All of our provision can all be adapted to meet specific needs of learners. This can include those with EAL, those with emotional behaviour disorders and those who might be receiving OT or SALT.
Here are some strategies for our wellbeing enrichment workshops specifically designed for those children receiving speech and language therapy in primary and secondary schools:
We aim to create a safe and supportive environment during the workshops, allowing students to share their experiences and concerns. Involving speech and language therapists, school experts and mental health professionals can provide additional expertise and support to the wellbeing workshops.
Working in collaboration with teachers, speech and language therapists and education professionals, we can design enrichment workshops specifically for speech and language therapy students in primary and secondary schools.
Here are some examples of content for our speech and language therapy enrichment workshops:
1.Communication Games and Activities: Organize interactive games and activities that focus on improving communication skills. These can include board games, role-playing scenarios, communication-based ‘treasure’ hunts, or storytelling sessions.
2.Storytelling and Creative Writing Workshops: We design workshops that enhance speech and language skills through storytelling and creative writing exercises. This can involve creating and sharing stories, exploring different writing styles, or practicing public speaking.
3.Pronunciation and Articulation Workshops: We can design workshops that focus on improving pronunciation and articulation skills. These sessions can include tongue twisters, speech drills, or exercises that target specific speech sounds.
4.Social Skills and Conversation Training: We can design and develop workshops that teach social skills and conversation strategies. These can cover topics such as active listening, turn-taking, initiating and maintaining conversations, and understanding non-verbal cues.
5.Language Development through Music: Integrate music into language therapy workshops to enhance language development. Activities can include singing songs, creating rhymes, or using music to teach vocabulary, grammar, and storytelling.
6.Multilingual and Multicultural Communication Workshops: We can develop workshops that celebrate and embrace multilingualism and multiculturalism. These sessions can explore communication challenges and strategies for students who are bilingual or come from diverse cultural backgrounds.
